Hi, I’m Joel Renker, a producer and composer who tells stories through sound.
I produce pop music for artists and compose cinematic music for film, TV, and games.
Inspiration
The foundation of my musical journey was deeply rooted in my connection with my grandfather. Exploring his cherished record collection, I was fascinated by the hidden stories within each vinyl. Captivated by the tales of adventures and moments he experienced while collecting these records, I discovered that music could carry emotion, culture, and storytelling. Long before the era of digital music, my grandfather traveled the globe for work, seizing every opportunity to collect records from every country he visited. From the vibrant streets of New York to the quaint shops of Tokyo, he would share the stories behind each record, soulful jazz in Harlem, stirring blues in New Orleans, and legendary concerts like Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, and Neil Young. These stories enchanted me, sparking a passion for music and an insatiable curiosity for storytelling.
My Path
Building on that early inspiration, I taught myself multiple instruments and studied Music Production in Amsterdam, honing my skills in composition, arrangement, recording, and studio production. Over the years, I’ve crafted music for artists across genres including Pop, Indie Pop, Indie Rock, Folk, Indie Electronic, and 80s Pop, shaping songs from initial ideas to fully produced tracks with layered instruments, vocals, and polished mixes.
In the cinematic realm, I create scores for film, interactive projects for games, TV shows, and trailer tracks, exploring a wide range of styles, from emotional and orchestral pieces to horror, epic, and fantasy music. Each composition is carefully built from initial concept to final mix, designed to enhance stories, evoke emotion, and leave a lasting impression. Collaborating with artists and creators drives me, helping bring their vision to life through music that resonates and inspires.
